Our mission is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
Since 1953, the DeWitt Noon Lions Club has been a vital part of the DeWitt Community, marshalling volunteers to assist with many civic projects, supporting youth activities, promoting sight-saving programs and contributing positively to the quality of life while also supporting the work of Lions Clubs International and the Iowa Lions Foundation.
With over 90 + Members, we are committed to the Lion's motto, "We Serve."
To carry out this mission, we participate in several fund-raising activities and contribute financially to worth while causes. We further this mission by individual and group volunteer service.
One of our best fund-raising activity is the Travelogue Series which has been ongoing for 49 years.
As Lions we are best known for our efforts to end preventable blindness. We also conduct vision screenings for children, provide eye exams, eyeglasses and hearing aids, as well, for those in need. In addition we have contributed to diabetes research and have sent children to diabetes camp.
Ready to SERVE?
Be a Lion.
Message from the President
As we enter a new year of Lion-ism, there are many opportunities for our club to support the Lions International goals and objectives. Following our motto "WE SERVE", each of us can directly improve the community with our service activities.
To be a strong organization, continued growth of our club by increasing the membership is essential. We can all do this by "just asking" potential members to join us. The "Power of We" is stronger as our membership grows.
Our strategic focus on Diabetes, Pediatric Cancer, Hunger, Vision and Environment will serve the area well. Our current activities of cornea transports, Iowa KidSight, collection of eye glasses, hearing aids, blood and the butterfly garden support these initiatives well. I believe we can do even more with the energetic members of our club.
Through improved advertising of our goals and accomplishments, utilizing the news media and internet based communications, we will grow momentum in our service activities.
